Fish Oil: It Won’t Get You A Date, But You’ll Feel Like Dancing
I found a delightful article about fish oil when I was researching prostaglandens (spell check thinks I mean “prostitution”) and PVCs. I had a hunch that part of the connection between getting my period and having increased PACs and PVCs had something to do with the nasty little prostaglandins that run amuck in women’s bodies at this time, causing cramping pain that makes some of us want to throw up our uterus.
I was right. Woohoo!
Check this out: “Prostaglandins and thromboxane A2, produced from arachidonic acid, are mostly proarrhythmic so a high intake of omega-6 fatty acids may be detrimental.” Translated, this means stay away from the junk food. Omega-6 fatty acids are the ones found in vegetable oils, like the ones they steep your fries in.
Important points:
-
Trials have shown a reduction in PVCs (premature ventricular complexes) with fish oil supplementation.
It only takes a few weeks for it to work.
How to reduce prostaglandins:
- Take some ibuprofen. This nips the little suckers in the bud before they wreak havoc on your body.
Eliminate, as much as possible, animal fats and trans fats from your diet, as these help produce prostaglandins.
Point to take away–don’t eat any of the food that tastes good and you’ll do great.
